"The Larks Still Bravely Singing Fly"
Submitted by Barbara Routley on Tuesday, October 26, 2010

During classes in the Cornett building in the late 1960's and early 1970's I used to sit and look out on the fields and woods to the north that had not yet been built on. Between the Cornett building and Ring Road was a field. Nesting in the field were larks (probably the Eurasian Skylark which sings while in flight a high pitched song with long sustained runs and trills). I used to love hearing them as I walked to and from the building to other parts of the campus. I wonder if they still nest around UVIC at all?
